This story is a narration from an Australian man who falls in love with two kinds of Candy: a woman of the same name and heroin. The narrator changes from a smart-aleck to someone trying to find a vein to inject, while Candy changes from an actress, call girl, streetwalker, and then a madwoman. Starting in Sydney, the two eventually end up in Melbourne to go clean, but they fail. This leads them to turn to finding money and heroin, while other posessions and attachments become unimportant.

Dale Murphy (Henry Rollins) is hosting and producing his own reality T.V show called “The Ultimate Survivalist,” with six contestants lead by Nina Papas (Erica Leerhsen) who’ll be thrown together for six days in a simulated post-apocalyptic wasteland. Located in a remote part of West Virginia, the contestants discover that what they are really fighting for is their survival- against a family of hideously deformed inbred cannibals who plan to ruthlessly butcher them all… Who will survive?

Bawdy comedy American Pie was an unexpected box-office hit in 1999 and, amazingly for a sequel, the whole cast returned here, including Seann William Scott, Mena Suvari and the wonderful Eugene Levy as Jason Biggs’s embarrassing dad. The humour remains the same — rude, crude and lewd — as the gang gets together for lots of beer and sex at a beach house following their first year in college. Apple pie lover Jim (Biggs) realises he needs to improve his sexual experience when he hears the beautiful Nadia (Shannon Elizabeth) is coming back to town, leading him to track down his only sexual partner (Alyson Hannigan) and ask for her advice. This involves the placing of a trumpet in an unusual location, but it might spoil your enjoyment to say where. Sure, the comedy here isn’t sophisticated and it’s often predictable, but if someone supergluing his hand to his, erm, member gets you giggling, you won’t mind a bit. 

When the grandmother of the publicist Karin (Gina Phillips) dies, she inherits her property in the fields. She travels with her boyfriend Jeff (Randall Batinkoff) for the weekend, but she decides to stay along the week cleaning up the place and packing the stuffs. Karin has horrible nightmares and visions of ghosts of her past, while she stays in the house with the creepy housekeeper Pierce (Tom Sizemore) and her younger sister Wendy (Jenny Mollen).

Kevin Sorbo stars in this action-packed sequel to the hit film, Walking Tall: The Payback. After cleaning up his hometown, Nick (Kevin Sorbo) retires as county sheriff and heads to Dallas where he hopes to start a new life with an FBI Agent and her twelve-year old daughter. Just being “the boyfriend” is tough enough for Nick. When a ruthless drug lord targets several key witnesses to a Federal case, Nick finds himself in the middle of a war with nobody to trust. This time Nick is on their turf and he is pitted against a ferocious army of gang bangers. Nick’s brand of country justice just doesn’t seem to cut it on the rough city streets but he will stop at nothing to protect his own.

Based on Myla Goldberg’s bestselling novel of 2000, this family drama uses the US National Spelling Bee (featured in the riveting documentary Spellbound) as its focus. Richard Gere and Juliette Binoche star as Saul and Miriam Naumann, a dysfunctional if high-achieving Jewish couple whose alienated children are left to discover their own ways into the worlds of spirituality and intellect. While the Naumanns’ sensitive daughter (Flora Cross) hones her penchant for spelling, their son (portrayed by Max Minghella, son of director Anthony) secretly joins the Hare Krishnas with his new-age girlfriend (Kate Bosworth). Playing obsessively with words and hidden meanings, the story lurches from the mysticism of mathematics and the Kabbalah to Miriam’s mysterious nervous breakdown, often leaving the audience bewildered as to what it’s actually trying to say. Decent performances and stunning cinematography and special effects at least provide some interest when the movie hits the doldrums. 

This film tells the tale of the Harper Affair, in which young Jimmy Harper finds his life of promise turn into a life of debauchery and murder thanks to the new drug menace marijuana. Along the way he receives help from his girlfriend Mary and Jesus himself, but always finds himself in the arms of the Reefer Man and the rest of the denizens of the Reefer Den.

Shattered windshields. Twisted wreckage. Last Exit is an action-suspense drama that tells the parallel stories of two ordinary women - one, a single mother barely supporting her handicapped son, and the other, a working mom precariously balancing her family with a high-pressure career - on one extraordinary day. Each woman’s life frays under the weight of her circumstances and spirals out of control. As police officers race to save them, pieces of a shattered puzzle fall into place - maybe this wasn’t just a tragic car accident after all. Both women fight for their lives, but ultimately, only one will survive

The two sides of director John Singleton’s haphazard career — Boyz N the Hood social concern and Shaft blaxploitation — unite in this tough revenge drama that consistently remains engaging while spinning headlong into preposterousness. Mark Wahlberg, Garrett Hedlund, Tyrese Gibson and André Benjamin are the hard-nut foster brothers who precariously reunite at their activist mother’s funeral to bring her murderers to justice. Benjamin delivers the subtlest performance as the only married sibling, whose business dealings may be the cause of Mob boss Chiwetel Ejiofor’s puzzling vendetta. The spectacular action scenes include a sliding car chase through a blinding snowstorm, a frenzied street shoot-out and a brutal climax on a frozen lake — all choreographed to a golden oldie Motown soundtrack. It’s fast, it’s furious, it’s ultimately sentimental and ludicrous but Singleton’s loose remake of The Sons of Katie Elder hits the slick urban western button with proficient glee.
