An abused wife strikes back at her murderous husband in this action thriller from director Gustavo Graef-Marino. Shortly after her marriage to police detective Jim Beckett (Tim Abell), na?ve ex-cheerleader Tess (Missy Crider) discovers that her new husband has a nasty habit of marrying and later disposing of the brides when he tires of their company. As Jim moves in for the kill, Tess narrowly escapes with the help of detective Lance Difford Kadeem Hardison). Her relief is short lived when Jim makes a break from jail, and the terrified Tess quickly turns to ex-cop-turned-self-defense guru J.T. Dillon (Mark Dacascos) for a crash course in busting skulls. Now hot on his wife’s trail, Tess must prepare herself for the inevitable confrontation that lies ahead.

Writer-director Michel Blanc, whose previous works include the acclaimed Marche a l’ombre (1984) and Dead Tired (1994), creates this gritty drama about a middle-aged impoverished French writer in London who becomes a gigolo. The film opens with Pierre (Daniel Auteuil) getting worked over by an irate pimp because he didn’t pay for a hooker’s drink. Rakish Irishman Tom (Stuart Townsend) offers to drive bloodied Pierre back to his seedy hotel. The following day, he stumbles upon Tom’s sandwich bar and begs for a job. Though he describes himself as a dead-broke author working on a novel, Pierre is concealing secrets from his dark past. Later, during a party populated with well-turned out lesbians, Tom reveals that he moonlights as a gigolo and suggests that Pierre might try the same. Soon Pierre is making easy money at the same agency where Tom works. Things get complicated for our Gallic protagonist when he falls for a golden-hearted streetwalker with a psychotic ex-boyfriend and one of his married regulars falls for him. Told with wry wit and gritty honesty, this film explores London’s dark sexual netherworld.

A long-dead monster gets a new lease on life as a Romanian village is under siege in this made-for-cable horror story. After a number of Americans have been disappearing under mysterious circumstances in Bucharest, a pair of U.S. intelligence agents are sent to Romania to investigate. It soon becomes clear they aren’t dealing with ordinary criminals — over 400 years before, a strange and bloodthirsty beast ravaging the town was captured and sealed in a crypt, and a recent earthquake has opened the tomb and brought the creature back to life. As the agents and the townspeople look for a way to vanquish the monster, they also become aware of a coven of vampires who are doing their evil business in town.
